Thread information: Revised thread page--please read
carefully to avoid confusion. Previously Amann Group's Mettler PolySheen and
Amann Group's Isacord had been offered on separate pages. In an effort to
provide shoppers with more economical choices, the smaller lower cost spools of
Mettler PolySheen have been added here to the Isacord page. When selecting
threads for embroidery designs shoppers can save money by purchasing smaller
spools of Mettler PolySheen in the colors where less is needed. Alternatively,
shoppers needing more of certain colors can also save money by opting for the
larger, more economical cones of Isacord. Amann Group's polyester embroidery thread is the thread of choice for maximum productivity and the highest quality embroidery among the largest embroidery houses. At nearly twice the strength of rayon thread,
this thread is among the smoothest running and most reliable thread produced. It has been engineered from the finest raw materials to provide just the right amount of elasticity to allow for high speed running without looping or puckering while virtually eliminating thread breaks. Poly is also much more colorfast that rayon making it the first choice for most embroiderers--professionals and hobbyists alike.
Generally speaking, under the Mettler name, the 200m and 800m spools are
marketed to home hobbyists while the 1000m and 5000m cones of Isacord are
marketed to people with multi-needle machines such as those producing larger
numbers of items (such as an embroidery business). Isacord-branded thread is available
as 1000m mini-king cones and 5000m king cones that feature a unique snap down base for neat, easy storage.
The Mettler-branded thread is available as 200m and 800m spools that feature a
tray groove at the end that the thread is wound into for neat storage. The color
names and numbers coincide between the Isacord and Mettler. The thread is also a match as far as the look, feel, and quality. Threads are available in the colors/cones/spools as shown. Certain colors come in all four sizes--others do not.
Note: The pictures below are mostly scans of the Isacord "Real" Thread Chart (Sold HERE). Colors are represented as closely as the quality of the scanner could achieve. Most are more accurate than the previous images that were available to us (which were merely computer generated 'areas' of color provided by the manufacturer). Due to issues with exact shading as captured by the scanner, and the many variations in the display quality and settings of the person viewing the webpage, it will always be preferred to use an official chart to make your selections--especially when an exact match is critical. If you do not have a "Real" Isacord thread chart yet, Isacord has provided a free version available for download HERE. (Right-Click "Save Target/File/Link As") The pictures below showing the thread with diagonal lines (e.g.: 0176) are photos of an actual cone of thread (these are not on the
Isacord chart). Digital cameras have the same problem that scanners do capturing colors accurately.
Amann Group has also provided a downloadable chart for the PolySheen
HERE.
